Music From the Andes

Paco Moreno, a native from the highlands of Ecuador, is a musician, storyteller, and luthier/instrument maker. He is committed to promoting the musical and cultural heritage of the Andes of Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. From an early age Paco learned to play a wide range of wind, string, and percussion instruments used in the Andes. Later on he began to build different kinds of instruments including guitars, charangos, panpipes, flutes, and drums using traditional techniques.

Since his arrival in the United States in 1991 Paco has worked with various groups as well as individually, performing in various colleges and universities, concert halls, museums, schools, libraries, festivals, and special events along the east coast of the US.

Paco currently resides in Davie, Florida, where he works as an elementary public school teacher. His teaching reflects his believe in the importance of learning other cultures. Paco believes that the more we learn about each other, the greater our tolerance and respect for each other will be. In exploring other cultures we are also learning about ourselves.
